Sustainable tights made from castor oil – soft, sturdy, and CO₂-neutral

You almost won’t believe it: tights made from plants. These sustainable tights from Living Crafts are made from innovative EVO® yarn derived from castor oil – also known as wonder oil. Plant-based, vegan, CO₂-neutral, and surprisingly comfortable. They feel soft and smooth against your skin, aren't sweaty, and fit like a second skin.

The tights feature a wide, high waistband that doesn't dig into your stomach and stays neatly in place, even when you're on the move all day. With 50 denier, they offer good coverage, perfect for dresses, skirts, or just under your trousers on chilly days.

Size advice

We stock these tights in sizes S through XL. My golden rule for tights: choose a size larger if in doubt. Especially if you have long legs. I wear size 42 trousers myself, and size L fits me perfectly.

Washing and usage tips

Always be careful with jewelry, nails, and zippers – tights remain delicate. A run can sometimes happen, no matter how sustainable the yarns are. In this case, "sustainable" means they are sustainably produced, not that they are indestructible. You can, however, responsibly recycle damaged tights in the textile bin.

You can find all our sustainable tights in our store at Zwaanshals 376 in Rotterdam. Open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 to 17:30. For hygiene reasons, tights cannot be tried on or returned – you will always receive a new, unopened pair.

FAQ – frequently asked questions about our sustainable tights

What are these tights made of?

The tights consist of 95% EVO-polyamide derived from castor oil and 5% elastane. Plant-based, vegan, and CO₂-neutral.

Are these tights stronger than regular tights?

The yarns are sturdy, but they are still tights: runs can always occur. The sustainability lies primarily in the production and the bio-based fiber.

Do the tights sit high?

Yes, and it feels wonderful! The wide waistband ensures the tights stay in place and don't slide down.

Can I return tights?

Unfortunately not. Due to hygiene reasons, tights can never be returned. When in doubt, choose a size larger.

Are these tights warm?

At 50 denier, they provide some warmth, making them ideal for autumn and winter, but they are not as warm as wool tights.

Gerecyclede garens zijn bijzonder

En dit is waarom:

Gerecyclede garens geven bestaande vezels een tweede leven. Ze kunnen van verschillende oorsprong zijn: denk aan gerecycled biologisch katoen, maar ook aan gerecyclede polyestergarens. Die polyestergarens zijn bij ons altijd gemaakt van post-consumer plastic — dus van plastic dat al door een consument gebruikt is, zoals petflessen. Dat is een belangrijk verschil. Plastic dat speciaal geproduceerd wordt om te recyclen noemen wij greenwashing: het lost het probleem niet op, het verplaatst het alleen. Post-consumer plastic wél hergebruiken, dát is een echte circulaire keuze. Eerlijk gezegd kunnen gerecyclede garens iets minder uniform zijn dan nieuwe vezels — de kleur of textuur kan licht variëren. Maar dat hoort bij het verhaal. Het is een materiaal dat je goed voelt: op je huid, en zeker in je hoofd. Ondanks dat dit een duurzame(re) keuze is, proberen wij gerecyclede plastic garens zoveel mogelijk te vermijden, omdat wij bij Natur-el niet houden van microplastics.

Wassen

Was op 30 graden met een fijnwasprogramma. Lagere temperaturen zijn beter voor het materiaal en voor het milieu.

Wasmiddel

Gebruik een mild, bij voorkeur biologisch wasmiddel. Vermijd bleekmiddel en agressieve reinigingsmiddelen.

Drogen

Laat het kledingstuk aan de lucht drogen. Gebruik de droger zo min mogelijk om het materiaal te ontzien.

Extra verzorging

Was niet vaker dan nodig, luchten verlengt de levensduur. Zo houd je het kledingstuk langer mooi en draag je bij aan minder waterverbruik.
