Well, doesn’t this just make you happy? The CAROLA from the FRISTED collection by HIMALAYA is one of those sweaters where the color really does all the work. Beautiful wide stripes, colors that blend subtly into one another, and then that fine, soft knit made of 100% organic cotton. We have it in three colorways: blue, green, and red/orange. And honestly: all three of them have something special. 😏
Extra nice if you love wearing a knit sweater but don't like the feel of wool. And if you still want a bit more warmth? We just wear a thin wool shirt underneath. The best of both worlds.
What makes the CAROLA sweater so great?
The CAROLA has a fairly simple design, which lets those fantastic colors take center stage. The horizontal stripes aren't sharply defined but bleed into each other slightly. This gives you that typical melange effect that FRISTED is so good at.
We also love the neckline: not a standard round neck, but a slightly wider boat neck. Not extremely wide, but just a little bit different. The bottom is rounded and slightly longer at the back, which makes the sweater drape very easily over trousers.

How does the HIMALAYA CAROLA fit?
The CAROLA fits true to size to slightly generous. Do you like a normal, relaxed fit? Then just choose your own size. You don’t automatically need to size up with this sweater. I am wearing a size L in the photo.
Thanks to the slightly looser shape and the rounded hem, it drapes very easily and casually. It’s exactly the kind of sweater you pull on over jeans and then don't have to think about for the rest of the day.
FRISTED and HIMALAYA – how does that work?
The CAROLA comes from the FRISTED collection by HIMALAYA. FRISTED is the knitwear label associated with HIMALAYA that focuses specifically on knitted clothing. Think beautiful yarns, unique knit structures, and above all, lots and lots of color.
The clothing is made with the same sustainable principles you've come to expect from HIMALAYA. This CAROLA is made of 100% organic cotton, is GOTS-certified, and is produced under fairtrade conditions.
Is a cotton sweater warm?
Cotton is wonderfully soft and comfortable, but it doesn't insulate as effectively as wool. That makes the CAROLA perfect for indoors, for the spring and autumn, and for anyone who doesn't get cold easily.
Are you a cold person like us? Layer a thin wool longsleeve or a wool-silk shirt underneath. You won't see it, but you'll get that fine, temperature-regulating warmth of wool. Ideal.
How do you care for a knitted cotton sweater?
We do want to mention something about this, because knitted cotton deserves a little love. Cotton has less natural elasticity than wool. A wet cotton sweater can therefore become quite heavy and lose its shape more easily.
Therefore, wash the CAROLA at a low temperature, do not use fabric softener, and please do not put it in the dryer. After washing, gently pull the sweater back into its original shape and preferably let it dry flat. Don't pull hard – just gently ease the seams, sleeves, and length back into place.
What do you do if you get a snag in a knitted cotton sweater?
A snag can happen with any knit. A ring, bag, zipper, or sharp edge is sometimes all it takes. Do not cut the loop! That could actually cause a hole.
Instead, use a snag repair needle to carefully pull the loop to the inside of the sweater. Afterward, you can gently massage the fabric around the snag to distribute the tension back across the knit. Often, you will barely notice it afterward.
Frequently asked questions about the CAROLA
What is the CAROLA made of?
Of 100% organic cotton. The sweater is GOTS-certified and produced under fairtrade conditions.
How does the CAROLA fit?
True to size to slightly generous. Generally, just choose the size you are used to.
Is this a wool sweater?
No, the CAROLA is made entirely of organic cotton. Ideal if you want a beautiful knit sweater but prefer not to wear wool.
Can I wear wool underneath for extra warmth?
Yes, certainly – and we think that’s a wonderful combination. A thin wool or wool-silk longsleeve under cotton provides extra warmth without making your outfit look bulky.
Why do I need to carefully reshape a cotton knit?
Wet cotton becomes heavy and has less elasticity than wool. Because of this, a knitted cotton sweater can stretch during washing. Carefully lay the sweater back into its original shape after washing and preferably let it dry flat.
What should I do if I get a snag?
Do not pull it and especially do not cut it. Use a snag repair needle to carefully pull the loop to the inside and then redistribute the tension around the snag by gently shaping the knit.
And then there is only the hardest part left: blue, green, or red? We’re afraid we aren’t going to help you with that choice. All three are just too great. 😉
