All about this product

Happy Lona MALAIKA brass earrings with colored thread

Sometimes you have earrings that are just nice. And sometimes you have earrings that instantly elevate an entire outfit. These are clearly the latter.

The MALAIKA earrings by Happy Lona are fair trade, handmade, and made of brass wrapped with delicate colored thread. The result is striking, warm, and yet surprisingly stylish. They have a cheerful quality, but remain chic due to the combination with the gold-toned brass. And believe me: these are the kind of earrings that make people look just a little bit longer.

Why you want to wear these earrings

These earrings have a beautiful total length of about 7 cm. The pendant with the colored thread is about 5 cm long. This makes them stand out nicely without being clunky. What I love about that: you really have a statement piece on, but they remain airy and wearable.

The top is a stud in a gold-toned brass look, with the oval pendant underneath, which is partially wrapped in colored thread. We have them in all colors of the rainbow, so there is always a version that matches your mood, outfit, or favorite color.

How to wear them

These are true mood-setters. Beautiful with a simple black sweater, a festive blouse, or a summer dress. Precisely because the shape is understated, the colors can really speak. I also find these are typical earrings that you can easily wear during the day, but that also feel just right for the evening. No hassle, maximum effect.

What I often hear from customers: “they are big, but not heavy at all”. And that is exactly why they are so great. You get that bold look without having relieved ears at the end of the day.

Fair trade and made with care

Happy Lona is a Dutch jewelry brand by designer Nanouk Jutte-Masselink. What once started with handmade jewelry on the street in Leiden has grown into a special brand where craftsmanship, material, and meaning come together.

Happy Lona works directly with small workshops and family businesses, including those in India and Turkey. No detours, no anonymous mass production. Just short lines, fair cooperation, and attention for the people who make these pieces. This way of working ensures that makers are paid fairly and can work in good conditions. And that just feels better, especially when something is this beautiful too.

Material, shape, and look

The MALAIKA earrings are made of brass and partially wrapped with fine thread. That combination gives them a warm, natural appearance. The shape is a timeless oval, but the color fields make them playful and lively. This makes them effortlessly compatible with all kinds of styles: from basic and minimalist to bold and colorful.

Because they are handmade, small details may differ slightly. That is not a flaw, but rather the charm of true craftsmanship.

How to keep your brass jewelry looking beautiful

Brass is beautiful, but it does need a little love. It is better not to wear these earrings in the shower, while swimming, or in bed. Perfume, body lotion, hairspray, and moisture can make the brass dull faster. My tip: put on your jewelry only after you are dressed and have already applied your perfume.

Preferably store your brass jewelry dry and separately, for example in a small bag or box. This prevents scratches and discoloration. Does the brass get a bit dull over time? Then you can carefully polish it with a soft, dry cloth. That way they will stay beautiful for much longer.

Why Happy Lona fits so well with Natur-el

Happy Lona chooses slow fashion. No fast trends, but jewelry you want to wear for a long time. Timeless in shape, fairly made, and with attention to detail. That fits incredibly well with how we at Natur-el look at products. Beautiful things are even more beautiful when they are made well and when you know where they come from.

And just like that, you were gone!

Wassen
