All about this product

ART bootie YORK KHAKI – tough, green, and surprisingly light

Are you looking for a boot that is tough enough for your favorite jeans, but also looks great with a dress? Meet YORK KHAKI from The ART Company. A sturdy leather boot in a beautiful forest green color, with a thick sole and a block heel that you can actually walk on. Always a nice bonus.

At first glance, YORK looks quite robust. Yet the Softlight sole is surprisingly light and flexible. You get that tough look, without the feeling that you have two bricks tied to your feet.

  • Tough leather women's bootie in khaki green
  • Made of calfskin from Spain or Italy
  • Produced in Spain
  • Standard fit: generally choose your own size
  • Light and flexible Softlight sole
  • Sturdy block heel of approximately 5 cm
  • Shaft height of approximately 15 cm
  • Zipper on the inside
  • Removable microfiber insole
  • 360° stitched all around
  • Produced with water-based glues

A 5 cm heel you don't have to be afraid of

YORK has a block heel of about 5 cm. That might sound like you'll be walking on serious heels all day, but due to the raised sole at the front, the actual height difference under your foot is smaller.

The wide heel also provides more stability than a narrow one. You stand firmly while still getting that little bit of extra height. Handy if you love wearing heels but don't feel like looking longingly at your slippers after just two hours.

Let’s be honest: it is still a shoe with a heel. If you are only used to flat shoes, it can be nice to gradually build up the wearing time. But within the category of tough boots with heels, we think YORK is a particularly comfortable choice.

Tough sole, surprisingly light step

The Softlight sole was developed to make sturdy footwear feel less heavy. The deep notches in the sole also provide extra flexibility while walking. This allows your foot to roll off more comfortably than with a completely rigid platform sole.

The coarse profile fits perfectly with the robust model and provides grip for daily use. Of course, no sole remains completely immune to slippery tiles, wet leaves, or that treacherous patch of ice you only see when it's too late. So, staying alert remains wise.

How does the ART bootie YORK KHAKI fit?

YORK is made on a standard last and generally fits true to size. Therefore, you can start by choosing the shoe size you normally wear.

The toe is rounded and offers more room than a narrow, pointed boot. Your toes should be able to move freely without hitting the front. The leather may feel firm when worn for the first time, but it should not pinch anywhere.

When trying them on, pay close attention to the following points:

  • Your toes do not touch the front.
  • The zipper closes without pulling or forcing.
  • Your foot does not slide excessively back and forth while walking.
  • The boot does not pinch at your instep.
  • You can wear the socks you normally wear with your boots.

Leather usually becomes slightly more supple with wear and molds to your foot. Unfortunately, a shoe that is too short will never get longer. If you are in doubt between two sizes? Then we prefer to help you in advance rather than you starting a complicated relationship with a shoebox at home.

Zip open, foot in, and you're done

There is a long zipper on the inside, making it easy to open the boot. No complicated laces, buckles, or morning gymnastics required: zip open, foot in, zip closed, and go.

There is also a small loop at the back of the shaft that helps with putting them on. Always open the zipper fully and do not pull hard if it gets stuck. Checking to ensure no leather, lining, or sock is caught will save you from a broken zipper later.

Khaki: green that combines surprisingly easily

KHAKI is a deep green tone that can lean more toward olive or forest green depending on the light. The dark sole makes the color extra tough and ensures the boot doesn't look too neat or fussy.

And no, you don't suddenly have to buy a completely green wardrobe. YORK KHAKI actually combines very easily with colors that are probably already in your closet:

  • blue and black denim;
  • camel, beige, and sand;
  • dark brown and cognac;
  • burgundy and rust tones;
  • navy blue and anthracite;
  • dresses and skirts with a floral print.

Under jeans, YORK is nice and tough. Under a dress or skirt, the sturdy sole provides a nice contrast. And with shorter trousers, the color gets all the space to be seen. Because let's be honest: if you're wearing such nice green shoes, people should know about it.

Why is this ART boot a more conscious choice?

No new leather shoe is completely sustainable. We aren't going to pretend it is. But The ART Company does make a number of choices that we like to highlight.

The shoes are produced in Spain and the leather comes from Spain and Italy. A large part of the production chain therefore remains within Europe. ART also uses water-based glues and a semi-vegetable tanning method.

The leather is not completely chrome-free. ART indicates that it contains a low level of chromium III, which is permitted under European law. The brand has tested completely vegetable tanning, but according to ART, it turned out that much more water was required. That is why they chose a compromise.

YORK is 360° stitched and has a removable insole. The sturdy construction and replaceable sole help ensure the shoes can be used for longer. And in the end, that is where we see the biggest gain: buying a good pair, taking care of them, and then wearing them for years.

Removable insole

The microfiber insole can be removed from the shoe. This is useful if you want to let it air out, clean it, or replace it over time.

Do you use your own orthotic insoles? If so, bring them with you when trying them on. Whether your insole fits well in YORK depends on the thickness and shape. A thick orthotic insole can make the shoe feel a lot tighter at the instep.

How to keep YORK KHAKI looking good

Leather gets better with wear, but not necessarily with years of neglect. A little attention from time to time works wonders.

Remove loose dirt first with a dry, soft brush or cloth. Is there still dirt on it? Then wipe the leather with a slightly damp cloth and let the shoes air dry naturally.

Then use a nourishing cream or spray suitable for this type of leather. Always test a new product on a small, less visible area first. Some care products can make the khaki green color slightly darker.

Have the shoes become very wet? Stuff them loosely with uncolored paper and let them dry at room temperature. Never place them against a heater and do not use a hair dryer. Leather enjoys that about as much as we enjoy a scorching hot sauna while still wearing our winter coats.

Let the shoes air out well after a long day of wearing them and preferably do not wear them every single day in a row. This gives both the leather and the interior time to release moisture.

Plantaardig gelooid leer, zonder chroom!

And just like that, you were gone!

Reinigen
