What is a barrel-leg trouser?

With a barrel leg, the trousers are somewhat roomier from the hips and the leg takes on a slightly curved shape, after which it narrows again towards the ankles. So don't immediately think of huge balloon trousers. With the MAITE, the effect is actually very subtle and wearable.

It gives your outfit a slightly more modern silhouette than regular straight trousers, without the feeling that the trousers are wearing you. Just right as far as we are concerned.

How does the TRANQUILLO MAITE fit?

The MAITE has a high waist and fits nicely around the waist and hips. From there, the leg gets a little more room and tapers slightly towards the bottom.

The trousers are made of 100% cotton and therefore contain no elastane. Keep this in mind if you are between two sizes. Cotton corduroy can become a little more supple while wearing and mould itself slightly to your body.

How do you combine burgundy corduroy trousers?

Much easier than you might think. Burgundy is almost a neutral colour once you start combining it. Beautiful with chocolate brown, navy blue, ecru, camel, pink, grey, and of course black.

A fitted turtleneck or fine wool sweater on top and you're basically done. Because of the high waist, the MAITE is also very nice with a slightly shorter cardigan or a sweater that you tuck into the trousers at the front.

But our favourite? The matching corduroy blouse. Because it's made from the exact same fabric, you can wear both together as a complete corduroy suit. Very chic with boots underneath; nice and casual with sneakers.

Why choose organic cotton corduroy?

Corduroy gets its characteristic look from the vertical ridges in the fabric. That not only gives the trousers structure, but also provides that wonderfully warm, rich appearance.

For the MAITE, TRANQUILLO uses 100% organic cotton. The GOTS certification sets requirements for both the organic fibres used and various environmental and social criteria within the textile processing.

How do you take care of corduroy trousers?

Corduroy deserves just a little extra love. Wash the trousers inside out and close the button and zipper before washing. Choose a mild wash cycle at a low temperature and do not spin-dry unnecessarily hard.

It is better not to put corduroy in the dryer. Let the trousers air dry and do not iron hard over the ridges. This way, that beautiful soft rib structure and deep colour are preserved for the longest time.

And even more importantly: do not wash them after every wear. Just airing them out is often more than enough.

Do not buy if...

…you are actually looking for skinny or super tight trousers. This MAITE is meant to have shape. The slightly rounder leg is exactly what makes it so fun. Want to try the barrel-leg trend without immediately going for an extreme model? Then this is a very nice entry-level piece.
