THINKING MU wool sailor sweater TANIT BLOCKS – 100% RWS wool
Yes, that’s right, the TANIT sweater from THINKING MU is back, but this version is exceptionally good. The TANIT BLOCKS is a warm wool sailor sweater with a distinctive colour-block in burgundy, chocolate brown, warm brown, and an unexpectedly bright blue hem. And that oversized zip-up collar… we absolutely love it.
The sweater is made of 100% pure wool. No acrylic or polyester to make it cheaper or easier, just a wonderful wool sweater as a wool sweater should be: warm, breathable, and naturally temperature-regulating. Furthermore, the wool is RWS-certified and mulesing-free.

What makes the TANIT BLOCKS wool sweater so special?
Just look at that collar! You can wear the wide, dark brown ribbed collar in different ways. Zip it all the way up when you're cold, wear it half-open like a classic troyer, or zip it further down so the collar falls wide over your shoulders.
The use of colour also makes this version special. The body is deep burgundy, the sleeves are brown, and at the bottom, there is that sudden cobalt blue ribbed hem. An unexpected combination that clashes just enough to become interesting. Very THINKING MU, indeed.
How does the THINKING MU TANIT sweater fit?
The TANIT has a relatively cropped fit and falls nicely on or just over the waist. The shoulders are relaxed and the sleeves have a bit more volume, without the entire sweater becoming oversized.
Doubting between two sizes? Choose the larger size. We think this is the best choice for this model, especially because of the length. Combine it with high-waist trousers, jeans, or a skirt, and the proportions are perfect.
Is the TANIT a sailor sweater or a troyer?
It actually has a bit of both. The high collar with a zipper is typical of a troyer or sailor sweater, but THINKING MU has completely put their own spin on the classic model with the wide collar and colour-block.
This gives you that wonderfully practical warmth around your neck, but the sweater looks anything but traditional.
Is this wool sweater really 100% wool?
Yes! The TANIT BLOCKS is made of 100% wool, without synthetic fibres. And we think that’s quite wonderful for a good winter sweater.
The wool is RWS-certified. The Responsible Wool Standard sets requirements for animal welfare and the conditions in which the sheep are kept, among other things. The wool used is also mulesing-free.
How do you style the TANIT BLOCKS?
With a sweater like this, you don't really have to do much else. Black or dark blue wide-leg trousers underneath, and you're done. Denim also always works, of course.
Fun detail: try wearing a light blue T-shirt or blouse underneath and let it peek out from under the sweater. This brings out the blue from the hem and makes the whole colour combination even more fun. That layering effect is exactly what suits the slightly shorter model so well.
Is a 100% wool sweater warm?
Absolutely, but wool does more than just warm you. The material helps regulate your body temperature and breathes much better than many synthetic materials. This makes a pure wool sweater delightful on cold days, without the feeling that you are wrapped in plastic.
And thanks to that large collar, you can decide how much warmth you want to retain around your neck. Zip it up in the biting wind, zip it down as soon as you step inside.
How do you wash a THINKING MU pure wool sweater?
Preferably as little as possible! Wool has natural self-cleaning properties and does not easily absorb unpleasant odours. Hang your TANIT outside or near an open window after wearing it and give the wool a day of rest every now and then.
Does it really need to be washed? Wash it cold on a wool cycle with a suitable wool detergent. We use Lanalicious wool detergent with lanolin for this. After washing, leave the sweater to dry flat and never put it in the dryer.
What can you do about pilling on a wool sweater?
Even good natural wool can pill a bit over time due to friction. Especially in the armpits, sleeves, and areas where, for example, a bag rubs against it. That is part of wool and is fortunately very easy to resolve.
With our Gleener fabric shaver, you can carefully remove loose pills and your sweater will look much fresher again in just a few minutes.
Why is the TANIT BLOCKS such a good wool winter sweater?
Because this is exactly the type of sweater where practical and unique do actually go together. 100% pure RWS wool, a warm high collar, a comfortable fit, and a colour-block that you won't get tired of anytime soon.
A bit of a sailor sweater, a bit retro, quite quirky, and, above all, incredibly fun. As far as we are concerned, this one belongs at the front of your wardrobe all winter long.
