KOMODO wool sweater SAMI WINE with collar in 100% lambswool
A polo, but nice and warm. The SAMI from KOMODO combines a classic polo collar with the coziness of a wool sweater. It is hand-knitted from 100% lambswool and comes in a deep wine-red color. The three dark buttons, the special knitting details, and the voluminous sleeves make it playful, cool, and just a little bit different.
The shorter, straight style falls loosely around the body and pairs beautifully with pants or a skirt with a higher waist. Warm enough to wear on its own, but flexible enough to fit a thin layer underneath.

A polo sweater without the sports club vibe
The collar gives the SAMI a nod to a classic polo, but the wool knit gives it a much softer and more modern appearance. You can fasten the three buttons completely for a neat look or open them partially for a looser neckline.
Wear a T-shirt underneath for a casual outfit or let the collar of a blouse peek out if you want to dress it up. This gives you the comfort of a wool sweater, but with a bit more personality than a simple crew neck.
Hand-knitted from 100% lambswool
The SAMI is hand-knitted from 100% lambswool. Lambswool is generally finer and softer than many coarser types of wool. The fibers trap air and thus help retain your body heat, without the need for synthetic padding.
Because the knit consists entirely of wool, you will find no acrylic, polyester, or polyamide in it. This also means the sweater requires some attention when wearing and washing. If you treat it carefully, you will enjoy it for years to come.
With hand-knitted garments, minor differences in the knit may occur. That is part of the artisanal character and makes every sweater just a little bit different. Not a manufacturing flaw, but a sign that real hands have been involved.
Special knit details
At first glance, the SAMI looks like a quiet wine-red sweater, but it is full of beautiful details. Ribbed bands run from the neck over the shoulders. At the bottom of the front panel, diagonal rib sections meet in a subtle V-shape.
These different knitting directions give the sweater structure without making it busy. The long sleeves are roomy and narrow at the wrists due to the ribbed cuffs. This creates a lovely, slightly puffed effect.
The dark buttons contrast subtly with the wine red and complete the polo look. Exactly enough detail to be interesting, without having to spend fifteen minutes in front of the closet wondering what on earth you can combine it with.
Shorter and nice and boxy
The SAMI has a shorter, straight style with dropped shoulders and roomy sleeves. It falls loosely around the torso and ends approximately around the top of the hip, depending on your height and body type.
Because of the shorter length, it pairs beautifully with high-waist jeans, wide-leg trousers, or a skirt. The sweater naturally falls in a nice spot, without you having to stuff a thick layer of wool into your pants. That saves you from a strange bulge around your waist.
Choose your usual size for the intended relaxed fit. Are you between sizes or do you like to wear a thicker layer under your sweater? Then choose the larger size. If you are tall or have a long torso, please keep in mind that the SAMI is intentionally designed to be a bit shorter.
WINE: warm, deep, and easy to combine
WINE is a deep wine-red color that provides warmth without being bright. It pairs beautifully with denim, black, anthracite, dark blue, olive green, and neutrals. With light blue jeans, the sweater looks a bit fresher; with black pants or a skirt, it gets a calmer, dressier appearance.
The color and the polo collar give the SAMI a subtle retro feel, but the short boxy style keeps it modern. So, not a prim school sweater. Unless your school used to be exceptionally fashionable.
Warm, but not unnecessarily heavy
The SAMI has enough body to be worn on its own, but it is not so massive that layering becomes impossible. On fresh days, a thin cotton shirt underneath is often enough. When it is truly cold, you can combine it with a wool-silk undershirt or long-sleeved shirt.
Under a coat, the roomy sleeves are, of course, a bit more noticeable than with a fine-knit sweater. Therefore, preferably choose a coat with enough room in the arms and shoulders. Putting on a winter coat doesn't have to become a group wrestling match with your sweater.
How does lambswool feel on the skin?
Lambswool is generally softer than many common types of wool, but every skin reacts differently. Some people wear lambswool directly on their skin without any problems, while others immediately feel every hair of wool.
Are you sensitive to wool? Then wear a thin T-shirt, wool-silk undershirt, or long-sleeved shirt underneath. That provides extra comfort and also helps you wash the sweater less frequently. If you want to be sure how the wool feels to you, please come by and try it on.
Wool almost never needs a bath
Wool can absorb and release moisture and takes on odors less quickly than many other materials. Usually, airing it out is sufficient. Hang the sweater outside or by an open window for a while after wearing it and give the wool the chance to refresh itself.
You can treat a small stain locally with a damp cloth and a little bit of wool detergent. The less often you wash a wool sweater completely, the longer it generally stays beautiful. Less washing, less work, and a happier sweater: sometimes our interests are fortunately just aligned.
How to wash the SAMI sweater
Wash the SAMI exclusively with a gentle hand wash in cold to lukewarm water. Use a small amount of suitable wool detergent, such as Lanalicious. Gently move the sweater through the water and let it soak briefly if necessary, but do not rub, scrub, or wring it.
Rinse the sweater with water of about the same temperature. Large temperature differences, heat, and movement can cause wool to shrink or felt. After washing, gently press the water out of the sweater. Optionally, roll it in a clean towel to absorb extra moisture.
Afterward, bring the sweater into shape and let it dry flat. Do not put it in the dryer and do not place it on the heater. Also, do not hang the wet sweater on a clothes hanger: wet wool is heavy and can therefore lose its shape.
Pilling is part of being wool
With a 100% lambswool sweater, small fluff or balls may appear, especially in the beginning, in places where there is a lot of friction, for example under the arms or along the sides. That is a natural characteristic of wool and does not mean the sweater is of poor quality.
Carefully remove fluff by hand or with a suitable wool comb. Also, be careful with sharp jewelry, open zippers, coarse bag straps, and other components that can catch on the knit.
Store the SAMI clean and folded in the closet. For longer storage, you can put the sweater in a sealed garment bag and protect it from moths with, for example, cedar wood or lavender.
Controlled production
The production location of the SAMI is monitored through the SEDEX system. Through this, companies make working conditions and social responsibility within their production chain transparent, among other things.
SEDEX is not a material certification and does not say anything in itself about the origin of the wool. It is a system for control and transparency within production. We are happy to be honest about that difference.

Is the sweater really made of 100% wool?
Yes, the SAMI is made of 100% lambswool. No synthetic fibers have been added to the knit.
How does the SAMI fit?
The sweater has a relaxed, boxy fit with dropped shoulders and roomy sleeves. The style is intentionally a bit shorter and falls around the top of the hip, depending on your height.
Which size should I choose?
Choose your usual size for the intended fit. Are you between sizes or do you want to wear a thicker layer under the sweater? Then choose the larger size.
Is the collar high or tight?
No, the SAMI has a soft polo collar. With the three buttons, you decide for yourself how open or closed you want to wear the neckline.

Can the SAMI go in the washing machine?
We recommend a gentle cold hand wash. Use a suitable wool detergent, avoid rubbing and temperature differences, and let the sweater dry flat.
Is pilling normal?
Yes, with natural wool, small fluff or balls can form due to friction. You can carefully remove these by hand or with a wool comb.
