Jacquard: the pattern is part of the knit
The small design is not printed on the sweater, but incorporated into the fabric during the knitting process. We call this jacquard. The different colored yarns form a regular pattern that gives the sweater more depth and texture.
From a distance, the MARTEN looks like a quiet blue. Only when you get closer do you see how much detail is in the knit. This makes it very suitable for people who sometimes find a plain sweater a bit boring, but don't exactly see themselves walking around in a full Norwegian Christmas sweater either.
Knitted cotton instead of wool
The MARTEN looks like a warm knitted winter sweater, but it is made entirely of organic cotton. This makes it pleasant for people who don't want to or cannot wear wool. Cotton feels smooth and soft and is experienced as comfortable by many sensitive skin types. Every skin is different, of course, because even on that, humanity refuses to reach a unanimous agreement.
A cotton sweater is less insulating than a thick wool sweater. How to style MARTEN NIGHT?
With jeans and sneakers, this is a very easy everyday sweater. Combine it with the flannel RUDI chino for a neater outfit that is still comfortable. Especially NIGHT SKY, VINTAGE INDIGO, and FOREST NIGHT work well with the blue-and-white knit.
Under a dark blue or gray blazer, the MARTEN can even go to a slightly more formal appointment. The round neck and the fine pattern make it dressier than a sweatshirt, while the cotton ensures you don't feel like you are dressed extremely officially all day.
And do you want more color? Ochre, rust, burgundy, and dark green look fantastic with NIGHT SKY. After all, blue is surprisingly social and gets along with almost everyone.

The cotton is organic and the sweater is certified according to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). The certification covers everything from the fiber to the final garment and sets both ecological and social requirements for the certified production chain.
The certification was performed by Control Union under number CU 847594. This means not only the organic origin of the cotton is important, but it also looks at further processing and production.
A sweater made of organic cotton also has an impact, of course. Water, energy, and raw materials are still required for growing, dyeing, knitting, and transporting. The more sustainable choice here lies in the certified organic material, the controlled production chain, and a design that doesn't go out of style after just one season.
How to wash the MARTEN
Let the sweater air out after wearing. Often, washing isn't necessary at all. Does it still need to go into the machine? Wash it inside out on a mild cycle and always follow the temperature on the care label. Use a small amount of mild detergent and wash it with similar colors.
It is best not to put the sweater in the dryer. Cotton knits can shrink and lose their shape more quickly. Gently pull the MARTEN into shape after washing and preferably let it dry flat. Do not hang a wet knitted sweater on a hanger, because the weight can cause it to stretch and create strange shoulder bumps. Unless that is exactly the look you were going for, of course.
Also, watch out for open zippers and Velcro from other clothing items. These can pull loops out of the fine jacquard knit.
Do not buy if...
...you are looking for a thick wool sweater for temperatures where even polar bears stay inside. The MARTEN is a knitted cotton sweater: soft, breathable, and very suitable for indoors and the transitional seasons.
