All about this product

Hirsch Natur thin jacquard socks black/grey

For those who want a pattern, but not necessarily snowflakes, reindeer, or a complete rainbow around their ankles. These thin Hirsch Natur socks feature a fine diamond pattern in black and grey. Subtle, graphic, and easy to combine with almost everything already in your wardrobe.

Model 158 is thin enough for regular shoes and consists of 100% organic wool. The jacquard pattern is formed directly into the knit using different colors of wool. It is therefore not a print that can disappear through wearing or washing the sock.

  • Thin wool socks for daily use
  • Black with a fine grey diamond pattern
  • Jacquard pattern integrated into the knit
  • Made of 100% organic wool
  • Produced in Germany
  • Warm, breathable, and moisture-regulating

A subtle pattern that never gets boring

A regular pattern of fine grey diamonds with small dot-shaped details runs across the black sock. The cuff, heel, and toe are kept in solid black. This gives the design a calm frame and makes the sock easy to wear.

The combination of black and grey suits dress trousers, jeans, workwear, and almost any color of shoe. From a distance, the pattern appears quite calm. Only up close do you see how refined the knit actually is. A bit modest, but certainly not shy.

Wool is a natural product. The color and structure may therefore differ slightly per pair or shipment. This is characteristic of the material and gives each sock its own natural appearance.

What is a jacquard pattern?

With a jacquard pattern, the design is built up during knitting using different colors of yarn. The pattern is therefore truly in the fabric and is not printed on the sock afterwards.

The term mainly describes the way the design is created. It does not automatically mean that the sock is thick or heavy. In fact, this Hirsch Natur 158 has a thin quality that is comparable to a regular everyday sock.

Because of the small, even diamond motif, this version looks less distinctly Scandinavian than the 156 models with large Nordic patterns. Are you looking for a wool sock that also fits under a quieter or smarter outfit? Then this is a great choice.

Thin wool socks for regular shoes

These socks are intended for shoes where a thick wool sock takes up too much room. Think of sneakers, low shoes, ankle boots, and many standard work shoes. They can be worn all year round, depending on your need for warmth and your shoes.

Thin wool socks are less warm than the thick Nordic models, but they leave more room for your feet in a snug-fitting shoe. That is important, because a thick sock that presses your toes tightly together can feel uncomfortable and cold.

Are you unsure between a thin, thick, or extra-long wool sock? In our wool sock selection guide, we explain which model fits your shoes and usage.

Why choose 100% wool?

Wool insulates, breathes, and can absorb moisture without immediately feeling clammy. This helps the material regulate the temperature around your feet. The socks can feel warm when it is chilly, without having the thick volume of winter socks.

Furthermore, wool often stays fresh longer than many synthetic materials. This does not mean that a wool sock should never be washed, but usually, washing after every wear is not necessary. Regular airing is often sufficient.

Are you sensitive to wool? Please keep in mind that this is pure wool. How soft or itchy the material feels varies from person to person and cannot be guaranteed for every skin type in advance.

Hirsch sizing advice: these socks fit generously

Hirsch Natur socks generally fit generously. If you are between two combined sizes, it is preferable to choose the smaller size. If you wear shoe size 39, size 38/39 is usually more suitable than size 40/41.

Check if the shaped heel of the sock sits roughly on your own heel. Is there a lot of material left at the toes, or does the heel come up above your foot? Then the sock is likely too big.

A sock that is too large can bunch and slide inside your shoe. That is less comfortable and causes extra friction. With a thin sock made of pure wool, that friction can accelerate wear and tear.

How does a pure wool sock stay in place?

In the upper part of the cuff, there are some very fine elastic threads. These are incorporated into the wool knit and do not come into direct contact with the skin. They help the sock stay in place along your leg.

There is no nylon, polyester, or elastane running through the foot section. As a result, you get the natural feel of pure wool, but not the tight fit of a synthetic sports or compression sock.

The available customer experience

Customer experience: a customer says that her daughter is very happy with these thin wool socks. In the review, no specific statements are made about warmth, fit, or use. We are therefore happy to include the experience as it is, without adding any extra characteristics.

How a sock sits and feels remains personal. A customer experience is not a medical guarantee and cannot predict how your feet will react to wool or the fit.

Thin pure wool can wear out

These socks contain no synthetic reinforcement at the heel, toes, or sole. This ensures a completely wool-like feel, but makes the thin knit more sensitive to long-term friction.

How quickly wear occurs depends on your shoes, insoles, foot shape, calluses, nails, and walking style, among other things. Therefore, check that the inside of your shoes is smooth and that no damaged edges are rubbing against the sock.

Do not use these socks as slippers on a hard or rough floor. Do you want to wear them at home? Then pull on matching slippers. Normal wear and tear due to use is not a manufacturing defect and is not covered by the warranty.

Repair the sock before a thin spot gets bigger

Check the heels, toes, and ball of the foot regularly. Do you see the knit starting to get thin somewhere? Repair it before a large hole forms. This way, you can significantly extend the lifespan of your socks.

Read our blog Help, I have a hole in my wool sock for explanations and practical repair tips. Darning wool, darning needles, and other tools can be found in our repair accessories for wool socks.

Air first, wash only when necessary

Let the socks air out well after wearing and preferably give them a day of rest. This allows the wool fibers to release moisture and regain their shape. Often, the socks are then fresh enough for another wear.

Do they still need to be washed? Then follow the care label. Use a true wool wash program at a maximum of 30 degrees and choose a low spin speed. Standard wash programs, large temperature fluctuations, and a lot of friction can cause the wool to shrink or felt.

Wash with a small amount of suitable wool detergent, such as Lanalicious. Do not use fabric softener, do not wring the socks out, and never put them in the dryer. Gently reshape them and let them dry lying flat in the open air.

Wol is fantastisch

And just like that, you were gone!

Was koud of lauw
