KnowledgeCotton Apparel checkered shirt DAAN MULTI CHECK made of organic cotton
Are checkered shirts boring? Not when you take a look at the DAAN MULTI CHECK from KnowledgeCotton Apparel. This men's shirt combines a classic, fine check with warm and fresh colors. Orange, dark green, beige, blue, and burgundy blend together cheerfully, without the shirt becoming loud. Just enough color to make your outfit interesting, but still easy to combine.
The DAAN is made of 100% organic cotton and is GOTS-certified. The shirt features a regular fit, a classic collar, a full button placket, and a chest pocket. That chest pocket is cut at an angle to the check, giving the shirt that little bit extra. A subtle detail, great pleasure for people who get happy from well-executed patterns.

A check with many combination possibilities
The name MULTI CHECK says it all: there is plenty going on in this pattern. The light background keeps the whole look calm, while the lines in, among others, rusty orange, green, blue, and dark red provide warmth and color. This makes the shirt surprisingly easy to combine.
Wear the DAAN, for example, with dark blue, black, or brown trousers. It also works excellently with regular jeans. Do you want to wear a sweater over it? Then pick up one of the colors from the check. Chocolate brown, dark green, rust, navy, and natural tones all go well with it.
Because of the fine check, the shirt gets a well-groomed look. It is not a lumberjack shirt that requires you to go out and chop down a tree immediately. Although you could, of course, provided you know what you are doing. The DAAN sits perfectly between casual and smart, making it very versatile.
Regular fit: neat without being tight
The DAAN has a regular fit. This means that the shirt fits normally and comfortably, with enough room to move around the chest, waist, and arms. The fit is neat, but not overly tight or tailored.
Basically, choose your usual size. Are you doubting between two sizes, do you have broader shoulders, or do you prefer wearing a shirt slightly looser? Then we would choose the larger size. If you mainly want to wear it open over a T-shirt, it can of course be slightly more spacious.
In the photos, you can see that the shirt has a neat length and can be worn both loose over trousers or tucked in. With the bottom buttons open and the sleeves nonchalantly rolled up, it naturally becomes a bit more relaxed. Fully buttoned and tucked into smart trousers, it is immediately suitable for an occasion where you want to look just a bit more polished.
From casual day to a neater occasion
This is one of those shirts that doesn't need much thought in the morning. You put it on with jeans and you're done. Sneakers underneath for a relaxed outfit, neat shoes if it needs to be slightly dressier.
On colder days, wear the DAAN under a plain wool sweater, slipover, or cardigan. Let the collar and perhaps a small part of the cuffs show, and you immediately have some color in your outfit. In spring or summer, you can wear it open over a plain T-shirt.
The nice thing about such a multicolored check is that you don't have to match the exact same shades. Brown, green, blue, black, and beige all work with it. So, you don't have to stand next to your wardrobe with the shirt to analyze every line exactly. You can, but you don't have to.
100% organic cotton
The DAAN is made entirely of organic cotton. Stricter rules apply to the cultivation of organic cotton regarding the use of harmful pesticides and artificial fertilizers than with conventional cotton cultivation. That is better for the soil, the environment, and the people who work with the cotton.
Cotton feels familiar and comfortable, breathes well, and is easy to wear. This makes this shirt suitable for different seasons. On warmer days, you wear it loose, while in winter you can easily use it as a layer under a wool sweater.
What does GOTS-certified mean?
GOTS stands for Global Organic Textile Standard. This certification looks further than just the organic origin of the cotton fiber. Requirements are also set for the processing of the textile, including rules for chemicals, the environment, and social conditions within the production chain.
A label does not make a garment completely impact-free, of course. Producing clothing always costs raw materials, water, energy, and transport. The added value lies in clearer and stricter agreements within the chain and in choosing clothing that you wear often and for a long time. And this timeless check luckily has good credentials for that.
The chest pocket deserves some attention
There is a practical pocket on the left chest. You can, of course, put something small in it, but honestly, we especially like the craftsmanship. The check pattern is placed diagonally on the pocket, making it subtly stand out against the straight lines of the rest of the shirt.
It is the kind of detail that you might not notice immediately, but that makes the design more interesting. Because if you are going to add a chest pocket anyway, you might as well make it something fun.
How to care for the cotton shirt
Wash the DAAN only when necessary. A shirt that still smells fresh and has no stains can often be worn again. Letting it air out saves washing and helps the material stay beautiful for longer.
Wash the shirt inside out, with similar colors, and according to the care label. A cycle at 30 degrees is usually sufficient for normally worn cotton clothing. Do not use more detergent than necessary and preferably avoid the dryer: heat can cause cotton to shrink faster and make colors dull sooner.
Hang the shirt neatly after washing. Iron it if necessary while it is still slightly damp; creases usually disappear more easily then. Always check the care label in the garment for the exact temperature.
Frequently asked questions about the DAAN shirt
What is this shirt made of?
The DAAN is made of 100% organic cotton and is GOTS-certified.
How does the shirt fit?
This model has a regular fit. It fits normally and offers enough room to move without being very wide. Basically, choose your own size.
Which colors are in the check?
The shirt has a light base with a fine check in multiple colors, including rusty orange, green, blue, and dark red and brown tones. That combination makes it match a surprisingly high number of trousers and sweaters.
Can I also wear the shirt open?
Certainly. Wear it open over a plain T-shirt for a more relaxed look. Buttoned up, it immediately looks a bit neater.
Is it a thick shirt?
The DAAN is intended as a versatile cotton shirt that you can wear on its own or as a layer. For really cold days, you can nicely combine it with a wool sweater, cardigan, or slipover.
Can the shirt go in the dryer?
We advise letting the shirt air dry. That is friendlier for the cotton, the colors, and the fit. To be sure, always follow the instructions on the care label.
