CRANBERRY: deep red with colored flecks
The color CRANBERRY is a deep, warm shade of red that leans towards burgundy. It’s not a bright signal red, nor is it a dark shade that looks almost black. It sits perfectly in between: striking enough to add something to your outfit, but understated enough to be very easy to combine.
Small lighter and darker fibers are incorporated into the Donegal yarn. From a distance, you mainly see the rich cranberry color; up close, you’ll discover red, pink, blue, and natural-colored flecks. These add depth to the knit and ensure the sweater never looks completely solid.
Wear YUSUF with dark or light blue jeans, anthracite-colored wool trousers, brown corduroys, or a sturdy pair of chinos. The color also combines beautifully with a blue shirt underneath. We see the latter in the photo and can highly recommend it.
What are ribbed side panels?
A vertically ribbed knit runs along the sides of the YUSUF. These panels give the sweater extra structure and form a beautiful contrast with the smoother knit of the front and back. How does the FISHERMAN YUSUF fit?

Pure merino wool with a genuine wool feel
This Fisherman sweater is made of 100% pure merino wool, without the addition of synthetic fibers. Merino wool retains body heat well while simultaneously being breathable and moisture-wicking. This makes YUSUF pleasant on cold days, both outdoors and indoors.
The wool is mulesing-free. Mulesing is a painful procedure in which skin is removed from around the sheep's hindquarters to prevent issues with fly larvae. This treatment has not been used for this merino wool.
Although merino wool generally feels softer than many other types of wool, the perception of wool is personal. Are you very sensitive? Wear a thin shirt made of wool and silk or cotton underneath. This way, you can enjoy the warmth of the sweater without the wool being in direct contact with your skin.
What does Donegal Fleck mean?
Donegal Fleck refers to the typical speckled yarn that Irish knitwear is famous for. During the spinning process, small fibers in different colors are added to the wool. This creates a vibrant, mottled surface.
The flecks are not fluff, stains, or irregularities. They are part of the material and add depth to every color. In CRANBERRY, you can see them especially well because the light, blue, and pink fibers contrast against the deep red base.
No single thread is exactly the same. That artisanal character is exactly why we love Donegal wool. You can buy a completely smooth, perfectly uniform sweater just about anywhere. This one, you can't.
What should you do if the sweater starts to pill?
Even high-quality merino wool can pill slightly at first. Movement and friction cause loose fibers to come to the surface. You will usually see this first under the arms, along the sides, or in places where a jacket or bag rubs against the sweater.
Do not pull the fuzz off with your fingers. Doing so can pull new fibers out of the knit and cause more pilling. Instead, use a Gleener fabric shaver. This allows you to remove the loose fibers gently. After a few treatments, the pilling usually subsides on its own.
How to care for your YUSUF
Fortunately, you don't need to wash a wool sweater after every wear. First, hang the YUSUF outside or near an open window overnight. Wool is less prone to absorbing odors and, after proper airing, is often fresh enough to wear again.
If the sweater does need washing, use a reliable cold wool wash cycle and a small amount of Lanalicious wool detergent. Do not rub, do not wring, and do not put it in the dryer. Gently pull the damp sweater back into shape and let it dry flat on a towel.
