ENGEL Natur unisex wool-silk sweatpants
This is the kind of pants you put on to sit on the couch for a moment and then don't want to take off for the rest of the day. The unisex sweatpants by ENGEL Natur are made of 70% organic virgin merino wool and 30% silk. Soft, supple, and warm, but without the heavy feeling of thick wool trousers.
The pants are suitable for home, on the go, a gentle yoga class, a walk, or a day at your desk. The interlock fabric moves comfortably with you, while the elastic waistband with drawstring ensures a good fit. Thanks to the pockets and elastic cuffs at the bottom of the legs, these are proper sweatpants and not just a pair of long wool underpants that accidentally wandered outside.

What is interlock wool-silk?
Interlock is a densely knitted, double-sided fabric. This quality feels firmer than the thin jersey used for many wool-silk undershirts and camisoles, but it remains supple and elastic. The fabric is thick enough to wear these pants as regular sweatpants, so they don't need to be hidden under other trousers.
At the same time, interlock is much lighter than boiled wool. Boiled wool has a compact, felted structure and is often used for sturdy outerwear. These pants drape more softly around your body, stretch with you, and offer more freedom of movement. That makes them suitable for relaxed activity, travel, and, of course, professional lounging. Which is also a craft in itself.
Because of the interlock knit, the pants generally hold their shape better than very thin wool-silk jersey. Nevertheless, it remains a product made of natural fibers. In areas with high friction, some pilling or wear may occur over time. This is normal for wool and does not mean the pants are of poor quality.
Warm, but not stuffy
Organic merino wool helps retain heat and can absorb moisture without immediately feeling clammy. The silk makes the fabric smoother, more supple, and slightly lighter. This makes the pants comfortable during cold days, yet they feel less heavy and compact than thick wool sweatpants.
You can wear them at home with a T-shirt or wool-silk long-sleeve, but you can also take them on trips or wear them for a walk. During yoga or gentle exercises, the fabric moves comfortably with you. For very high-intensity sports where you experience a lot of friction, sweat, or sit on rough surfaces, we would be more cautious: natural wool-silk is comfortable but less abrasion-resistant than technical synthetic sportswear.
Unisex fit and sizing advice
These sweatpants have a roomy unisex fit. Men can generally choose their usual size. For women, the model is significantly roomier; we therefore advise women to take at least one size smaller than their normal women's size.
If you prefer a truly loose fit, you don't necessarily have to size down as much. If you want a neater, more fitted look around the hips and thighs, definitely choose a smaller size. The elastic waistband and drawstring provide enough room to adjust the waist properly.
When choosing your size, don't just look at your waist, but also at your hip circumference and desired leg length. Because this is a unisex model, the proportions differ from sweatpants specifically designed for women.
Sweatpants to wear often
This is not a base layer intended to disappear solely under other clothing. The sturdier interlock quality, pockets, cuffs, and adjustable waist make them proper trousers. You can combine them with other wool-silk underwear, but just as easily with a cotton T-shirt, a sweater, or a cardigan.

How to care for the wool-silk interlock fabric
Only wash the pants when absolutely necessary. After a day of wear, you can usually just let them air out well. Hang the pants in a sheltered spot and give the wool time to rest in between. This helps the fibers return to shape and limits unnecessary wear caused by washing.
Is a wash necessary? Use a wool wash program at a maximum of 30 degrees, with a low spin cycle and a small amount of wool detergent with lanolin. Do not overload the machine and remove the pants from the drum immediately after washing. Do not use regular detergent or fabric softener.
Do not wring and do not put them in the dryer. Lay the pants flat in the correct shape to dry after washing and gently pull the legs back to length. Keep an eye out for sharp jewelry, rough surfaces, and protruding parts of bags: a snagged thread from a ring or buckle happens faster with fine wool than you might like.
