Organic cotton flannel chino trousers RUDI KCA – softer than a chino should be
Smart trousers that feel like you’ve sneaked out of the house in your comfortable loungewear. That’s pretty much the RUDI flannel chino by Knowledge Cotton Apparel. It looks like a classic chino, but is made from super-soft cotton flannel. Smart enough for work or a dinner out, comfortable enough for every day, and definitely not one of those stiff trousers that takes six months to break in.
The RUDI has a regular fit with straight legs and is made from 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton. We carry it in three colours: classic dark blue NIGHT SKY, the beautiful blue VINTAGE INDIGO, and dark green FOREST NIGHT.

Flannel, but without the wool
When you think of flannel, you might immediately think of wool, but these trousers are made entirely from organic cotton. Flannel refers to the fabric and the finish, not automatically to the material. The cotton weave has been softly brushed, giving it that warm, touchable feel.
The fabric feels softer and warmer than a regular smooth chino, but it still breathes nicely. This makes the RUDI a wonderful pair of trousers for autumn, winter, and crisp spring days. And yes: while writing this text, we probably petted them more than was strictly necessary.
Fit and length sizes
The RUDI has a regular fit with straight legs: not tight around your legs, but not overly wide either. Because the fabric consists of 100% organic cotton, there is no elastane in it. So don't expect jogging bottoms disguised as chinos. The soft flannel provides comfort, while the trousers retain their smart shape.
We sell the RUDI in two length sizes:

Length 32: inseam approx. 81.3 cm. Knowledge Cotton Apparel recommends this length for a body height of approximately 179–189 cm.

Length 34: inseam approx. 86.4 cm. Knowledge Cotton Apparel recommends this length for a body height of approximately 187–197 cm.
This remains a guideline, of course. Leg length and body proportions vary per person, so if in doubt, compare the inseam with a pair of trousers that fits well at home.

Length 32 is available at Natur-el in waist sizes 29 through 36. Length 34 starts at waist size 30 and goes up to size 36. Size 35 does not exist within this sizing range.
Which colour will you choose?
NIGHT SKY is classic dark blue. Smarter than denim and softer than black, making it go with almost anything. Combine it with a shirt, wool sweater, turtleneck, or just a good T-shirt.
VINTAGE INDIGO is a beautiful blue colour with a slightly more relaxed look. Great if you love wearing blue but sometimes find dark blue a bit too formal. Looks lovely with natural, rust, green, ochre, and dark brown.
FOREST NIGHT is a deep dark green. Quiet from a distance, clearly greener than your standard trousers up close. Fantastic with off-white, camel, dark blue, burgundy, and—for those who know life is short—pink.
From meetings to weekends
With a shirt, belt, and leather shoes, the RUDI is perfect for the office, a meeting, or a dinner. With sneakers, a T-shirt, and a cardigan, they immediately become relaxed weekend trousers.
The straight leg combines just as easily with sturdy boots as it does with low-top sneakers. Thanks to the soft flannel texture, it also looks beautiful with other natural materials such as wool, corduroy, and knitted cotton.
What makes the RUDI a more sustainable chino?
These trousers are made of 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton. Cultivating organic cotton does not use synthetic pesticides or artificial fertilizers, as is common in conventional cotton cultivation. The GOTS certification also sets requirements for the processing of the fibre and includes social criteria for the people working within the certified production chain.
That doesn't mean a new pair of trousers has zero impact. Raw materials and energy are still required for growing, dyeing, producing, and transporting. The benefit lies in certified organic fibres, supervision of the production chain, and a timeless design that you can wear for years in all sorts of ways.
Washing instructions for cotton flannel
Let the trousers air out after wearing; often, washing isn't necessary at all. Does it need to go in the machine? Wash it inside out on a mild cycle and always follow the temperature on the wash label. Use a small amount of mild detergent and wash dark colours with similar shades.
A wool wash cycle and wool detergent are not necessary for these trousers: the RUDI is made of cotton. Preferably do not put it in the dryer. This can cause shrinkage and makes the soft flannel structure wear out faster. After washing, carefully pull the trousers into shape and let them air dry.
Close zips and Velcro on other items of clothing before starting the washing machine, as these can damage the brushed fabric. In the first few washes, a dark or intensely coloured pair of trousers may also bleed some colour. That is not unusual, but it is a good reason not to put them in with your whites.

Are these chinos made of wool?
No. The trousers feel warm and soft due to the flannel finish, but they are made of 100% organic cotton.
Is there stretch in the trousers?
No, the fabric does not contain elastane. The regular fit provides room to move, but the fabric itself is not elastic.
How does the RUDI fit?
The RUDI has a regular fit with straight legs. It is not tight and not overly wide. Compare your body measurements with the official size chart above or contact us for personal advice.
What is the difference between length 32 and 34?
Length 32 has an inseam of approximately 81.3 cm and length 34 has an inseam of approximately 86.4 cm. Therefore, length 34 is about 5.1 cm longer.
Are these trousers suitable for winter?
Yes. The softly brushed cotton flannel feels warmer than a regular smooth chino and is therefore very pleasant during the colder months.
Can the RUDI go in the tumble dryer?
We advise against it. Air drying is kinder to the fit, colour, and soft structure of the fabric.
