The AAIKALA PATCHWORK from ARMEDANGELS is a high-waist pair of jeans with different denim panels, visible seams, and raw, unfinished hems. The trousers have a straight leg and are made of sturdy, thick denim without stretch. As a result, they feel a bit stiff at first, as a classic pair of jeans should feel. Over time, the cotton becomes more supple and the trousers will shape themselves to your body, but they won't suddenly gain stretch. If only it were that simple.

Patchwork without the costume party

The patchwork effect is created by the combination of different denim washes and striking seams. On the front, a lighter panel runs down the middle of the legs, with darker panels along the outside. The back also features various panels and diagonal seams.

The open, unevenly finished hem gives the trousers a raw edge. This makes them just that little bit more exciting than a standard pair of blue jeans, without making you feel like you've stepped into a craft project.

Fit & honest size advice

The AAIKALA has a high waist and a straight leg. Although ARMEDANGELS describes the fit as straight, in practice we find that they run quite small – especially at the waist and hips. Because the fabric contains absolutely no stretch, there is no give in those areas.

Our honest shop-floor advice: if you are in doubt, choose a size larger. Vera wears a size 30 or 31 in most jeans, but needed a size 33 in these AAIKALAs. This difference can of course vary by figure, so don't automatically assume your usual jeans size will fit.

The model in the product photos is 179 cm tall and is wearing size 27/32. The length is regular.

How to style these jeans

Let the unique denim do the talking and pair them with a white shirt, a simple T-shirt, or a solid-colored sweater. They look a bit dressier with ankle boots; with sneakers, they get a casual vibe. Also lovely with a short cardigan or a fitted turtleneck, so the high waist and patchwork details remain clearly visible.

Material and care

The trousers are made of 100% organic cotton. No elastane has been added: this is sturdy, authentic denim that may feel a bit stiff at first and gradually becomes more supple through wear.

Wash the jeans as little as possible. Do they need to go into the machine? Then wash them inside out at a maximum of 30 degrees, with similar colors. Do not bleach and do not tumble dry. Remove the trousers from the machine immediately after washing, shake them out, and let them air dry.
