A Fair Isle sweater that is anything but standard
A Fair Isle sweater is of course a true winter classic, but APU KUNTUR gives it its own unique twist. A beautiful jacquard pattern in various colors is knitted around the neck and shoulders. Between the geometric shapes, you will discover little alpacas. A nod to the origin of the wool and to Peru, where this sweater is made.
The raglan sleeves flow beautifully from the neck and give the sweater a relaxed look. They have a subtle balloon shape and end in a fitted cuff. This gives the LANA just that bit of extra shape, without your arms turning into two enormous puff sleeves. Feminine, not fussy.
How does the APU KUNTUR sweater LANA fit?
The LANA FAIRISLE has a regular, straight fit. The sweater falls loosely along the body, without being tight and without being overly oversized. The model in the photo is 173 cm tall and wears size S.
Wear this women's wool sweater with light-colored trousers to let the soft colors stand out. With jeans, it looks a bit tougher, and with a skirt, it becomes more feminine. Because there are so many different shades in the Fair Isle pattern, you can wear surprisingly many colors from your wardrobe with it.
And if you want to go all out? We also have APU KUNTUR accessories in the same color scheme. With these, you can create a beautiful set. Or a great gift, although there is of course a risk that you will keep it for yourself in the end.
Why is baby alpaca so special?
Baby alpaca is among the finest and most luxurious alpaca fibers. The name mainly refers to the fineness and softness of the fiber and does not automatically mean that the wool comes exclusively from young alpacas.
The fiber is light, breathable, and temperature-regulating. This means that the sweater can retain a lot of warmth without feeling heavy or stuffy. Ideal for cold days, but also nice in rooms where the heating works enthusiastically.
Alpaca wool naturally contains no lanolin and feels smoother than many ordinary types of wool. As a result, baby alpaca is often perceived as pleasant by people with sensitive skin. Every skin reacts differently, of course, so if you are in doubt, please come by and feel it for yourself. We understand very well that with a sweater, you sometimes want to perform a tactile test yourself first.
Fair Trade made in Cusco, Peru
The APU KUNTUR Wool sweater LANA FAIRISLE is Fair Trade produced in Cusco, Peru. In this region, people have been working with alpaca wool for generations. That knowledge is reflected in the refined jacquard pattern, the beautiful color combinations, and the meticulous finish.
Choosing 100% baby alpaca and good craftsmanship creates a sweater that is not meant for just one season. This is the kind of garment you bring out every year as soon as it gets colder. And one that will probably make you happy every year again.
How do you care for a 100% baby alpaca sweater?
The good news: washing is almost never necessary. Hang the sweater outside after wearing or near an open window and let the fibers air out. Alpaca wool hardly absorbs odors and therefore easily freshens up on its own.
If the sweater does need to be washed? Wash it carefully by hand or use only a wool wash cycle if the care label allows it. Use cold water or a maximum of 30 degrees and a small amount of special alpaca detergent, such as Washpaca. Alpaca contains no lanolin naturally and therefore does not need a detergent with added lanolin.
Do not wring, do not tumble dry, and do not hang wet on a coat hanger. Gently press the water out of the sweater, reshape it, and let it dry flat.
With soft natural fibers, some fluff or pilling can occur in the beginning. That is part of the material. Gently remove loose fluff with a good lint comb, for example, a Gleener. Never pull off balls by hand, as you can damage the fibers by doing so.
