This is truly one of those sweaters that makes you feel warm just by looking at it. The ANUKOO wool sweater MINA in OLIVE is knitted from fluffy alpaca and has a wonderfully soft, full appearance. It has a lovely loose fit, without turning you into a walking cloud—though on cold days, that might not be such a bad thing.

MINA has a relaxed fit with a round neckline, roomy sleeves, and a beautifully visible knit. The OLIVE color is a deep olive-green shade that is surprisingly easy to pair. It looks great with denim, but also works beautifully with navy, black, sand, and brown.

Why is there polyamide in this alpaca sweater?

MINA consists of 89% fluffy alpaca and 11% recycled polyamide. That small percentage of polyamide isn't there just for show on the care label; it actually serves a purpose in this sweater.

The soft alpaca yarn is knitted relatively loosely. This gives MINA its airy, fluffy appearance, but such an open knit can lose its shape or sag more easily without support. The recycled polyamide helps make the knit sturdier and more shape-retentive. So, while the sweater isn't 100% alpaca, the addition ensures you get to enjoy its beautiful fit for longer.

How does the ANUKOO sweater MINA fit?

MINA has a loose fit and is available in two combined sizes: S/M and L/XL. The clothing label only shows S or L. This means:

• Label S stands for size S/M
• Label L stands for size L/XL

I am wearing the L/XL variant in the photos. On me, it fits nice and loose, exactly how I like this sweater best. If you would prefer MINA to be less loose and are between sizes, choose the smaller one. If you love a relaxed, slightly oversized fit, then it’s perfectly fine for it to sit a bit generously.

The sweater falls to about the hip, which makes it look great with jeans or high-waisted trousers. This model also works well with a skirt: the roomy top is beautifully balanced by the shorter length.

Is fluffy alpaca soft?

Alpaca is known for its warmth and light weight. You get a cozy sweater without it feeling heavy on your shoulders. The fluffy yarn also gives MINA that soft, slightly fuzzy surface that you immediately want to touch.

Whether or not alpaca itches remains a personal experience. Many people find it soft, but sensitive skin can sometimes react to fine alpaca fibers. If that’s you, wear a thin shirt or camisole underneath, or come by and try MINA on first.

Alpaca naturally contains no lanolin. This can be pleasant for people who are sensitive or allergic to lanolin.

Does a fluffy alpaca sweater pill?

With a soft and fuzzy alpaca yarn, pilling can occur due to friction, especially under the arms and in places where a bag rubs against the sweater. This is characteristic of this type of yarn and does not mean the sweater is worn out. Gently remove loose pills with a fabric shaver, applying very little pressure. Fluffy is nice; picked bare, less so.

How to wash the alpaca sweater MINA

Wash MINA as little as possible. Let the sweater air out after wearing and preferably store it flat. Because of the loose knit, it can stretch out more quickly on a clothes hanger.

Does it need washing? Wash it cold or on a suitable wool cycle at a maximum of 30 degrees, with a low spin speed. For alpaca, always use a special detergent without lanolin, such as Washpaca detergent for alpaca. Alpaca naturally does not contain lanolin and therefore does not need this additive.

Do not use regular detergent or fabric softener, and never put MINA in the dryer. After washing, carefully reshape the sweater and let it dry flat. Even with the recycled polyamide, this remains a delicate, loosely knitted garment that likes to be treated with a little care.
